Toni Blake ~ 4 1/2 and 5 Star Reviews
Camille Dalton is in Coral Cove, Florida, to acquire a property for her employer, The Vanderhook Company. Their client plans to build a posh new resort in Coral Cove and Camille has the dogged determination to make it happen...or so she thinks. The owner of the Happy Crab Motel, Reece Donovan, has been very resistant to selling and is still completely unwilling to sell, so Camille gets a room in the deserted motel, hoping to wear him down.
Reece will not change his mind but will let her stay around. He won’t make her life easy---he makes sure the town knows who she is affiliated with and what she hopes to do, and gives her nicknames that she does not appreciate. She is also terrified of his pet iguana. She is determined to make the sale because Vanderhook is her family, and she wants to keep her family happy. But her growing love for Coral Cove and Reece complicate things enough to feel conflicted about doing her job.
Toni Blake's latest is the second book in this series, and while it stands alone, the continuing characters really bring this tale to vibrant life and their stories are advanced here. The plot is well constructed and secrets are revealed at a good pace. There’s a cat and an iguana to love, and Cami's and Reece's chemistry is riveting and delightful.

When Christy Knight lost her parents in a fire, that was a devastating loss, but her pain gets worse. Her parents had let their life and home insurance lapse, so not only has she lost all of their material possessions, she’s inherited nothing but debt. Now she’s learned her grandfather is just a few months away from having to leave his rest home for lack of funds, so her poverty is reaching desperate levels. She deploys her roommate’s plan of looking for a rich man to solve her problems. But on the night of an important date with a prospect, she’s locked out of her apartment. Out of desperation, she asks her neighbor to kick her door down.
At first, Jack DuVall is sure his neighbor, whom he nicknames "Alice," is crazy. But she quickly endears herself to him, despite her mercenary dating tendencies. He won’t make a move on her himself, though, for he is secretly very wealthy, and women out for a man’s money are a sore subject for Jack. Though he tries to resist, when she decides to visit her grandfather in Florida, he offers to accompany her because her car is old and he wants to keep her safe...or so he tells himself.
Toni Blake launches her "Coral Cove" series with this title, whose heroine is from her "Destiny, Ohio" series, but new readers will not be lost. Readers will particularly appreciate the secondary plot featuring Grandpa Charlie's past recollections, and the present‑day romance is quite compelling as well.
