Emma worries about the teenage runaway, but is reluctant to give information to Dean Bannon. Dean is an agent for LOST who has been hired to find Julia, and Emma is the only lead he has. Life has taught her to be wary of everyone, especially law enforcement.

Cynthia Eden continues a series with this gloriously dark romantic thriller, though it is a perfect standalone. The characters are convincing, sexual tension is rich, and the plot has some truly shocking twists. Not to be missed!
Heather Nordahl Files
Ryder Duncan was hungry. He had lost track of how long he had been locked up at this so‑called research lab called Genesis Facility, but he knew he hadn't fed in a very long time. His bloodlust was almost out of control. Almost, but not quite. Then they put her in his cell. He could smell her blood from across the room. And then the bloodlust struck. As Ryder sank his fangs into her neck, the sweet euphoric taste of her blood made him lose control and he drank too much. As he felt her life force drain away, he suddenly came to himself and desperately tried to prevent her from dying by giving her some of his blood. But it didn't work and as Ryder mourned his lack of self‑control and the loss of her spirit, he suddenly realized that she was burning!
The only thing Sabine remembered was the flames and the urge to destroy. She didn't know where she was but did remember somebody or something biting her neck. And the fire; the all‑consuming fire telling her to burn and destroy. Then through the haze of flames, she heard him calling her name.
Once Bitten, Twice Burned is the second in the "Phoenix Fire" series but can easily be read alone. Ms. Eden has created characters of such depth and passion that the reader is instantly mesmerized with the situation that she has created. The empathy between the two main characters is so strong that the reader won't want to put the book down until the very end.
Howl for It
Shelly Laurenston, Cynthia Eden
“Like A Wolf With A Bone” (*****) by Shelly Laurenston is the prequel to her other hilarious shapeshifter novels. The Smith wolf pack of the Tennessee and North Carolina hills were a wild bunch who fought, loved and protected fiercely anything and anyone they felt deserved it.
Egbert Ray Smith, Eggie to his friends and Marine buddies, scared the living daylights out of everybody who met him. His eyes always seemed to be not quite human, even when he was in his human form, and he thoroughly enjoyed what he did for a living--killing. When Eggie was sent home and saw the She wolf stalking agitatedly around the front porch, he knew why. It was all the Smiths inside arguing over everything, and Darla Mae Smith wasn’t having it. She didn’t want to be here either, but her boss, of the Van Holtz pack, had sent her home for a vacation. Fat chance. There were full humans hunting the wolves, lions and bears that resided on Smith property, and now they had Darla Mae in their sights. That is until Eggie saved her life and Darla declared that she wasn’t the least bit afraid of him. He was hooked for life.Ms. Laurenston definitely doesn’t disappoint with this prequel that explains where some of her favorite characters from her other books came from. Darla and Eggie are absolutely hilarious, as are all the other hybrids, shapeshifters and feudin’ families of the hills. It may get a little confusing trying to keep track of who is married to whom, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter it’s just good fun reading.
“ Wed or Dead” (****) by Cynthia Eden is a high octane adventure from start to finish. Kayla Kincaid knew her job was to get next to Gage Riley by any means necessary. But she hadn’t thought her boss seriously meant she had to marry the man! So why was she standing on the red carpet of the Forever Chapel in Las Vegas about to walk down the aisle? Then Gage smiled that perfect smile and she knew why she was marrying him. Unfortunately, she also knew she would have to betray him after the wedding. Gage was a shifter, a paranormal, and Kayla was a hunter who took out the monsters that roamed the night in the guise of humans, but weren’t. “Wed or Dead” will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire story. Gage and Kayla start out as antagonists…sexy, married antagonists…but find that they have more in common than they thought. A sexy adventure that will keep you up reading well into the night.
