Shannon McKenna continues her "McCloud and Friends" series with Miles Davenport's story. A phenomenally changed man after his near death, Miles struggles with the aftermath of psychic torture that has massively enhanced his senses. Nightly sensual dreams with a beauty that might just be a missing girl, Lara Kirk, help him keep his sanity. Despite the incredible mental defenses he has erected, she is able to penetrate into his mind and communicate with him. Initially, he thinks he’s going crazy, but soon realizes he can use this connection to locate and rescue her.

Lara sees Miles as her knight in shining armor. She is embarrassed about her dependence on him, but deeply in love. She wants to stay with him forever in the citadel of safety he has created for her. But her powerful psychic captor is determined to get her back.

Fatal Strike takes McKenna's romantic suspense series to an exciting paranormal twist. Miles is a fantastic hero, both sweet and lovable, and a steely protector. Kara's vulnerabilities are honest, but she also has a tensile strength that is a great counterpart to Miles’ own insecurities. A wonderful mix of gritty action paired to a sensual and very romantic love story, Fatal Strike comes highly recommended.

*****

Shannon McKenna continues the “McCloud Brothers and Friends” contemporary romantic suspense series with the story of Alex Aaro’s quest to protect Nina Christie from her dangerous adversaries.
A friend of her mother assaults Nina and injects her with a solution
that brings Nina’s latent psychic abilities to frightening life.  Nina records a cryptic conversation with this woman on her phone. The problem is, it’s in Ukrainian.  Alex’s friends draft him to help Nina, since he is Ukrainian American.   He reluctantly agrees. Both of them are wounded souls for whom the desire to take the risk of falling in love for the first time is irresistible.  However, the clock is ticking against them, as their ruthless enemies draw closer.

One Wrong Move is a riveting, involving, emotional, sensual love
story that fully satisfies the reader. The lead characters both struggle with emotional demons and find solace in each other. McKenna shows the walls coming down between Alex and Nina in a believable and compelling fashion, making a couple that feels completely right together. The villains are a truly heinous and despicable threat that doesn’t let up until the moving finale of this excellent novel.
