Griff Wicklow expected to be in the military for a long time to come. Then the half‑brother he never knew needs a kidney or he will die. Griff learns that he’s a match, and he donates that kidney even though it ends his career as he knows it.  Now he’s working with Ranger Security.

His anger at the father who deserted him for his pregnant girlfriend has been channeled into a need to always be reliable. His first assignment for his new employer is a little ridiculous, but he will make sure that no harm comes to the multi‑million dollar jeweled bra on its way from West Virginia to New York.

Jessalyn Rossi's father has become agoraphobic, and she needs to travel with the bra to New York. But this part‑time mechanic and racecar driver is willing to do this for her father. Her reaction to Griff takes her by surprise, and the feelings are mutual, as he is mesmerized by her lush curves. Her immediate goal is to rattle his determination to stay exactly on schedule, but soon she becomes more interested in getting to know him. Then he learns that a notorious criminal is targeting the bra, meaning that he must be even more vigilant.

Rhonda Nelson's latest "Men Out of Uniform" title is a marvelous read. Every woman should have a Griff in her life to show her how gorgeous she is in his eyes. The mystery dovetails perfectly with the romance, creating a satisfying tale from start to finish.

Ranger Security's newest member, Jeb Anderson, is working in the senior community of Twilight Acres. His mission is to discover who has been stealing jewelry from the local residents. When he arrives, his only suspect is Sophie O'Brien, but as soon as he meets her, he realizes that she cannot be the guilty party. Maybe, instead of investigating her, he can join forces with her in the investigation.

Sophie's beloved grandmother was part of this community before she died, and now its denizens want Sophie to find happiness. When Jeb arrives in town, the matchmakers are thrilled. Sophie isn’t as thrilled, though Jeb is gorgeous. She tries to avoid him, but soon they’re working together to find the jewel thief. Their own combustible chemistry begins to work its magic as well.

Fans of the long‑running "Men Out of Uniform" series will be delighted to see a new installment, but this book is a joy even without reading prior tales. This couple is another great match, and readers will finish this book with a smile.

Sniper Judd Willingham leaves the military when he can no longer bring himself to pull the trigger. When he gets back home, he joins his twin brother at Ranger Security. His first job is more serious than he expected--he must protect a witness to a murder. Multiple attempts have already been made on her life, so he is to take her to a safer place than a police safe house.

Noelle Montgomery is somewhat of a character. She has a large inheritance, and instead of working at a traditional job, she dedicates her time to disaster relief and helping the needy. When she meets autocratic Judd, she immediately calls his boss to get him off her case. She is mortified to learn that her action puts people at risk. Noelle and Judd are magnetically attracted to each other--it is not if, but when they will succumb.

All of Rhonda Nelson's "Men Out of Uniform" series are delightful, and this tale is one of the best in a stellar series. Judd is a wonderful hero, and while Noelle is quite prickly, she is also one of the most entertaining heroines featured in the Blaze line this year.

Jack Martin suffered trauma and partial hearing loss in Baghdad. Faced with having to take a desk job, he leaves the military and joins his sister Charlie at Ranger Security. Their cases tend to be quirky, and Jack's first case is no different. Mariette Levine, the owner of a local bakery, has had vast quantities of butter stolen from her and was recently assaulted by the man dubbed "The Butter Bandit."

Expecting a sweet, white‑haired old lady, Jack is shocked by Mariette's youth and curvy beauty. Her romantic past has left her deeply gun‑shy, but something tells her that Jack is different. They seek the butter thief, who is no hardened criminal but a young man whose hard life has led to some dangerous choices. The solution will be less about bringing him to justice and more about bringing him help.

Rhonda Nelson's latest has the usual great characters and hot sex, but there's much more. Readers will especially enjoy the loving treatment of Down Syndrome characters, including the memory of Mariette's mother.

`Charlene "Charlie" Martin is sick of the boys' club that was her police job, as well as the shadow of her police family. So she quits and sets her sights on a dream job with Ranger Security. Unfortunately, she's never been a ranger, and she's a woman; she doesn't have a chance. She knows that her hopes will be dashed, but by the end of the interview she's fuming. She knows who got the job she wanted--former Ranger Jay Weatherford. Somehow she'll make them all pay.

Now the day has come. She and Jay have both been hired to find a kidnapped millionaire dog. Jay is working for the family whose motives are less than pure. Charlie is working for the housekeeper, who is the dog's caretaker. Both Charlie and Jay are motivated to succeed and are surprised by their intense attraction. Jay is still adjusting to life off the battlefield. His nickname of the 'Phoenix' stems from an incident that left him physically unscathed but racked by survivor's guilt. He's enjoying the mental games with sexy Charlie, but sharing his battlefield past is off the table.

Rhonda Nelson's latest is virtually flawless. While part of an extensive series, it stands alone. The characters and their struggles are marvelously drawn, and while it takes a while to get to the love scenes, once they come they explode with searing sensuality.

His first assignment is to protect shop owner Bess Cantrell as she travels to find a thief. Her hard drive was stolen, putting her entire client list at risk of encountering a man in search of a very expensive book. This man is willing to hurt the elderly to achieve his ends.

Lex assumes Bess is an old woman and gets a big shock when he discovers she's young and a dream come true. He fights to keep his mind on the task at hand, but it's a struggle, especially because she feels the attraction as well. As they travel from client to client, trying to catch the thief before he hurts anyone else, passion wins out, though both Lex and Bess have demons that make them shy away from a serious connection.

Rhonda Nelson's latest is part of a series, but it stands alone. Readers will appreciate Ms. Nelson's skill at convincingly portraying a man's point of view as well as the chemistry between the complex characters and the smooth writing.

The three Cole sisters share a most unusual upbringing, and they also share this excellent holiday anthology.
Alison Cole is a musicologist on the trail of a real find. Her specialty is Christmas music, and she has just heard an old recording of two Christmas songs that she's never heard before. So she heads to the Tennessee Mountains to find the elderly songstress. She finds her, and also finds Drew Phillips, country doctor and attractive man. They shelter together through a storm, and sparks fly. But such divergent people seem to have no chance at a real future. Kate Hoffmann creates wonderful characters and real conflict in "When She Was Naughty."
Layla Cole is a mandolin player skilled in her art, but crippling stage fright usually keeps her in the studio. The promise of enough money to pay off her land and build her house brings her out to play two shows. Gorgeous head of security Bryant Bishop distracts her with kisses, but didn't he hurt her sister? Rhonda Nelson's "Cole for Christmas" has plenty of heat to roast your chestnuts this holiday season.
Rita Cole does not have the musical gifts the rest of her family enjoys, and she flounders in her inability to figure out what to do with her life. Tyler Ramsey remembers Rita as the vapid sex goddess who broke his little brother's heart. One kiss and one punch cause her to lose her job and her apartment. Luckily, she has Tyler to give her a ride to her parents' house, and a box of sex toys to sell to pay her way. Tawny Weber thrills with "A Babe in Toyland." Her characters are wrestling with long‑held image issues, which make them real, and the sex is blazing hot.
