Dangerous Refuge
Elizabeth Lowell
William Morrow
Shaye Townsend works with ranchers for the Conservancy. One of the ranchers she works with is crusty old Lorne Davis. He had agreed to give his land to the Conservancy but has recently changed his mind due to a mistake that he deemed offensive. Shaye comes to his ranch to talk to him early in the morning, only to find him dead. She is stunned and saddened, and she is not the only one concerned about the circumstances of his death.
Tanner Davis is Lorne's nephew. He has his own life as a cop in L.A. and is not intending to become a rancher. Still, he has no intention of handing over the ranch either. From evidence he discovers, he believes that Lorne may not have died of natural causes. Shaye has her suspicions as well; so they join forces in search of some rare coins that may have been stolen, but the answers to their questions lead them into danger.
Elizabeth Lowell's latest is an exciting romantic suspense that should please her many fans and earn her new ones. Her likeable heroine and rough‑edged hero form the core of the tale, and the several possible suspects keep the mystery interesting.
