Mace Harrison has a week's leave, and he is spending that time home in Colorado Springs.  He takes a job with Lazarus Security, protecting a controversial general‑turned‑radio host on his tour in the area. Mace was burned by an unfaithful girlfriend and has no interest in dating anyone. Then he sees beautiful waitress Geneva Davis and is inspired to ask her a surprising question: Will she be his pretend girlfriend for a week?

Since Geneva lost her mother two months ago, she has felt numb. Right after her loss she had sex with a friend and is now pregnant. He wants to marry her, but she wants to stay friends. Into this drama comes Mace, who asks for a faux relationship. But there’s real passion between them, a passion that flounders when he learns that she's expecting.

Tori Carrington's latest Lazarus Security tale features a couple dealing with pregnancy as a barrier to intimacy. They deal with this real dilemma and find scorching passion along the way. Geneva, in particular, feels like she could be your friend.

Jonathon Reece is in Arizona to apprehend a fugitive suspected of murder, but Mara Findlay is not as easy to catch as he expects. He runs into her by chance in the airport but does not realize it until she coldcocks him at her apartment. She has the upper hand and takes him with her when another bounty hunter shows up. Eventually Reece regains control, but this extraordinary woman is a big distraction.

Mara's upbringing is unusual, to say the least, as she went from an uncaring mother to an antigovernment militia group. She left that group, but they won’t let her go. Now the leader of the group, who is also her ex, has framed her for murder and the FBI is on her trail. The hot man who has her trapped has her thinking about sex--when they’re not on the run--but she’ll never trust him.

The writing team of Tori Carrington features another one of their perfectly crafted damaged heroines in a tale that hits the ground running and never stops. This is part of a series, but stands alone.

Lincoln Williams works for Lazarus Security now, but once upon a time he was an FBI agent. He put away a murderous bank robber who has now escaped from prison. Lincoln is determined to put Billy Johnson back behind bars, and his best path to that end is Billy's ex‑girlfriend, Regina Dodson, who coincidentally now lives right here in Colorado Springs.

Regina has come a long way. She changed her name and moved across the country, far away from the mistakes she made. She has no interest in dating, but one night she goes out dancing with her best friend and meets Lincoln. Alcohol is involved as she and her best friend take him home with them. He's interested in one‑on‑one with Regina (even though her best friend has other, more salacious ideas), but he also needs to keep her safe from her ex. Lincoln is keeping secrets because he cannot bear to see the look on her face once she learns the truth.

This is the second book in Tori Carrington's "Pleasure Seekers" series, but it easily stands alone. This tale does not push the envelope like the prior tale‑‑no threesome actually happens with Regina's inappropriately flirtatious best friend‑‑ and the title does not fit the plot, but this book is thoroughly enjoyable from first page to last.  Readers will love seeing what makes Lincoln tick.

Penelope Weaver never thought he'd come back, but there Palmer DeVoe stands, just as beautiful as he was fifteen years before. She hasn't had sex in so long she barely remembers what it's like. Even though she's been dating, she just doesn't feel the spark, to the disappointment of her grandmother and great‑aunt, who just want her to get laid.  Her urges for him make her forget every other man, but she can't forget that she needs to tell him something.

Palmer got out of town long ago, leaving behind the dysfunctional relationship he had with his father, a difficult curmudgeon. Now he's back, hoping to bring jobs to his hometown, which has been hit hard by the recession. But his boss, who holds a grudge against the town, keeps pulling the rug out from under him.  And then there's Penelope. Their chemistry is as explosive as ever, but there's something she's trying to tell him‑‑a secret she cannot keep any longer.

This is part of a series, but it stands alone. While most readers will guess Penelope's secret, they will delight in this tale and its characters, especially Penelope's outrageous grandmother and great‑aunt.

For entirely too long, Troy Metaxas has felt like he has had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Now the weight may be about to lift because he's working on a deal with family nemesis Manolis Philippidis that can save his family's business and his town. All this work has left him lonely and vulnerable to the sexy stranger who comes into the town's diner one morning. The next time he sees Kendall Banks, she's in a business suit, strolling into an all‑important meeting.

Kendall is not Philippidis' employee, but she is working as his lawyer. She's not looking for love, but it finds her in hot, serious Troy. Though he tries to be discreet, their passion cannot be denied. But Kendall is keeping a secret that's tearing her apart and could lead to Troy's destruction.

This latest title in Tori Carrington's "Private Scandals" series can stand alone, but readers who have followed this series will enjoy following the continuing stories of the Metaxas family and the townspeople of Earnest, Washington. As usual, the characters are well crafted, and the love scenes can't be beat.

Bryna Metaxas' family is in a feud with a man who is determined to destroy them and has the means to do so. Their company needs something to jump‑start it, or their whole town, already hurting for jobs, will suffer. In desperation, Bryna crafts a business proposal and brings it to Caleb Payne. What she doesn't expect are the sexual fireworks that flare between them.

Caleb is a ruthless businessman who works as a consultant for the Metaxas' enemy. He never lets a woman affect his emotions, but his feelings for Bryna are unusually intense. Despite some reservations, he enters into a secret relationship with her, but he has no intentions of letting it grow into more than a brief affair.

Tori Carrington's latest continues a series, but it stands alone nicely. Readers will love the portrayal of family dynamics, both in the Metaxas clan and between Caleb and his mother. But it's the interaction between Caleb and Bryna that shines, with truly sizzling sex scenes.

In this fabulous anthology, Marines come home on leave to deal with the woman trouble they left behind.

Eric Armstrong had an Internet flirtation with a woman calling herself Samantha, but he learns that she's really Sara Harris, his deceased best friend's widow. Now that he's home and has found her, she's running scared, afraid of hurting her in-laws and not ready to let go of her husband. Can he convince her to embrace life again, with him? "Eric" is a short-and-sweet tale.

Eddie Cash has left the military now that his future has taken an unexpected detour. A one-night stand with Megan Walker months ago left her pregnant. Now he's doing his best to take care of her until the baby comes, but he doesn't realize that he never told her what his intentions are. "Eddie" is an endearing tale of young love.

Matt Guerrero is a seasoned soldier on his second tour of duty. But he's losing on the home front, as his wife has become so distant that it seems he can't even touch her. Can he find a way to mend his marriage before he loses her for good? "Mateo" examines the stresses military duty can place on even the most solid marriages.

Brian Justice is the other men's commanding officer, and he's facing a court-martial for an incident he did not cause, but happened on his watch. He is in no position to get into a relationship, but feisty Angela Mitchell, and the orphaned children she counsels, are worming their way into her heart. "Justice" packs a lot of story into a short tale, and serves to tie the rest of the stories together.
