Court Gentry is an ex‑CIA assassin known as an independent.  He was known as The Gray Man for four years after being betrayed by the CIA.  Court is hired by the Russian mob to kill a Middle Eastern monarch, which is a difficult job to begin with, when an old comrade from the CIA shows up.  This is a complication in a few ways, not the least of which is that Court believed the man to be dead.  The CIA wants Court to kidnap the man, instead of killing him, in exchange for stopping the kill-on-sight order.  In the untenable position of being between the Russian mob and the CIA, in which he can trust no one, Court wonders if he has a chance of making it out of this one alive.

Every once in a while there is a book that is worth more than five stars and this is one of them.  I almost took up biting my nails.  This novel grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go through the entire suspense-filled thrill ride to the very end.  While I am a big fan of suspenseful books, this one actually had me talking to it and nervous for Court.  This is one not to be missed.
