PRIDE AND PUNISHMENT

An Erotic Retelling of Jane Austen’s Beloved Classic by Nia Farrell and Jane Austen

PRIDE AND PUNISHMENT is an erotic retelling of a Jane Austen classic. Characters that you thought you knew…well, they’re ready to reveal their secret selves. Mr. Darcy is a Dominant. Miss Elizabeth Bennet is submissive. Jane Bennet might be the only “handsome” woman in Meryton, but puppy-like Charles Bingley needs a Mistress. Mr. Darcy doesn’t think Jane has what it takes and separates the couple.

His growing lust leads Mr. Darcy to confess his desire to dominate Miss Elizabeth – a proposition that she mistakes for a proposal. Already accused of less-than-gentlemanlike behavior, Darcy must find a way to win the submissive heart of a woman who abhors him.

Hailed as…Phenomenal. Gripping. Brilliant. Delicious Amazing. Titillating. Delightfully twisted. Fabulously naughty. “This is the Austen novel I always wanted to read.”

Reviewer K. S. Banks: “This is a phenomenal twist on the classic!  It is an incredibly gripping & titillating ero/rom read!  A must read for everyone who loves historical romance and light erotica!”

Five Star Review of Pride and Punishment by Author Maggie May: “What happens when Pride and Prejudice meets 50 Shades of Grey? Find out in this well-written erotic romance. Anyone who loved the Austen classic and salivated at the scene of Colin Firth walking out of the lake soaking wet in his ruffled Darcy shirt must have wondered, "What kind of sex life would he and Elizabeth Bennet have?" Were they equal players in the bedroom? Or was Darcy dominant and Lizzie submissive? Would she kneel naked before him and call him "Master"? At first, I was skeptical, but I let this novel take me along for a ride and was glad I did.

“One of my favorite things about this book is that it is told from Darcy's point of view. He tells the reader that he had a problem stuttering when he was younger and was late in talking when he was a child. He admits that Lizzie is a more polished conservationist than he is. It shows some vulnerability that I like to see. Another of my favorite parts of this book are when the two of them take walks in the woods. I won't spoil what happens, so you'll have to find out for yourself; but they certainly weren't stopping and taking the time to smell the roses. Austen purists will find that the writing style shows great respect for Pride and Prejudice, and the author has a flair for writing regency dialog.

What do you get if you blend an English literary classic with a delicious BDSM perspective?

That is the question - but before I answer, an admission from me - I am not an Austen fan. I have read Austen; I persevered with a great number of her novels and yet I have never particularly enjoyed reading them. When Nia Farrell asked me to read an advanced copy of her erotic re-telling of Pride and Prejudice, I agreed with a level of trepidation, and so it's with some delight I can report to absolutely adoring her new release Pride and Punishment - An Erotic Retelling of Jane Austen's Beloved Classic!

This is the Austen novel I always wanted to read. I'll admit it - I like sexual chemistry between characters, but it has to *go* somewhere to satisfy me. The tentative glances and untold yearning lead to little but frustration from this reader, and in this new re-telling, Nia is able to deliver both British social etiquette AND scintillating scenes of BDSM.

She is faithful to the original narrative in almost every way... But she spices it with the most enticing dynamic between the dominant alpha-male, Mr. Darcy, and the object of his lust, Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Written entirely from his point of view, we see Darcy pursue her with all of the gallantry and poise that you would expect from Austen, but we also know his true intentions... We know that he enjoys the challenge she represents, and we know that he desires to bind and spank Elizabeth. We grow to understand his need, and in doing so the reader also becomes aware of the untold, burgeoning needs within Miss Bennet herself.

Many of us already know these characters. We are familiar with their stories and their perspectives. This book is not a departure in terms of narrative or plot, but that's not its purpose. It brings something absolutely new to the table; it brings pleasure and gratification where there was previously none. It brings tenderness and intimacy to the pairing of Darcy and Bennet. I found it to be totally believable and utterly arousing.

So, what do you get if you blend an English literary classic with a delicious BDSM perspective? You get a whole new audience - a collection of readers who would have been left uninspired by the original classic. Of course some people will not enjoy this book - they may be upset by this re-telling, and offended by the new version. I am not one of these people. *This* Mr. Darcy wooed and haunted me. Bravo, Ms. Farrell - if only Austen had been more like this at school... Maybe I'd have been a fan?

Excerpt:

I find myself watching Miss Elizabeth, with her chestnut hair caught up in a style that compliments her face and figure.  Neither her countenance nor her form are perfect by modern standards of beauty; however, her throaty laugh, her graceful dancing…her enthusiasm…more than make up for her deficiencies.  For the second time in as many minutes, I find myself entranced, watching her with her partner, those striking dark eyes aglow with delight as she perfectly executes the most intricate of steps.  I may one day regret that I shall never know how she moves in bed with her ankles around my neck.  If asking her to dance would not invite speculation as to my particular tastes and give rise to unreasonable expectations, either towards Miss Bennet or any other female with a half-full dance card, I believe that I could be persuaded to lead her in a contredanse or the Boulanger.

As it is, I am expected to dance with the host’s wife and daughter.  Seeing that Mrs. Lucas is engaged, I search the crowd and find Miss Charlotte Lucas speaking with Miss Elizabeth Bennet.  Hmm.  A quandary.  I cannot ask Miss Lucas to dance without extending a second invitation to her friend.  Then again, it provides the perfect opportunity to ask Miss Bennet to dance without appearing to single her out.

Squaring my shoulders and softening my face, I approach the two women.  Miss Lucas is nearly my contemporary, far past the age when most young women marry.  Miss Elizabeth is of that age and, as such, should greet me with a welcoming smile, if not promises of pleasure, yet I sense a satirical lift to her eyebrow, and those midnight eyes of hers – so dark a blue as to be almost black – sparkle with a hint of mischief.  I do not have long to learn what she is about.

“Do you not think, Mr. Darcy, that I expressed myself uncommonly well just now, when I was teasing Colonel Forster to give us a ball at Meryton?”

When she was baiting the bull and ignored every red flag that I was throwing?  “Yes,” I say a bit tightly.  “But then most women wax eloquent on subjects dear to their hearts.”  Seizing the opportunity when Miss Lucas is momentarily distracted, I lean and whisper, for her ears only, “You were clever, Miss Bennet, but unwise.  Some men should not be teased.”

She stiffens imperceptibly and drops her gaze to her folded fan.  “Sir, you are severe on us.”

Sir.  One word to fall from those full, expressive lips, and suddenly I want more.

Jesus God.  I must be mad.  Or desperate.  Or both.

Fuck.

Her bosom heaves with a small sigh.  I swallow, my mouth gone painfully dry.  She has deliciously small breasts, barely large enough to fit my hand, no doubt sensitive, as small-breasted women tend to be.  With the layers of clothing, I would only be guessing that her nipples were hard, but the riot of gooseflesh that dimples her skin tells me that she is not unaffected.

Miss Lucas follows the line of my gaze and rushes to rescue her friend from my scrutiny.  “It is your turn to be teased, Eliza.  I am going to open the instrument, and you know what follows.”

What follows is a performance that will inspire fantasies for nights to come.  Miss Elizabeth’s soft white hands and dexterous fingers playing the pianoforte.  Her honeyed voice is like liquid gold, a rich contralto, turning the most innocent of tunes into a decadent delight.  I cannot help noticing that her white throat and swan’s neck are perfect for wrapping fingers around.  And those luscious lips of hers, which are so very, very expressive….

I imagine them parted.  Imagine her panting, sweet moans escaping, then vibrating against my length as she swallows me to the root.

After a part-Fae teenager’s powers awaken, she’s enrolled in an Otherworldly academy

where purebloods and mixed-bloods learn to master the elements.

Homeschooled for most of her life, Astra Greene isn’t prepared for her senior year in public school. When a bully targets an at-risk girl, Astra’s anger flares—and so does the bully’s phone, bursting into flames.

Suddenly, her life is turned upside down, and she's enrolled in the Wildwood Fae Academy, where deadly creatures roam outside the walls and dangers lurk within. Surviving in this strange, new world will require mastering her powers—the sooner, the better.

A YA story, Torch introduces the new Wildwood Fae Academy Series.

Excerpt:

The flagstone path wound through vegetation that spilled over the edges, nearly obscuring it in places. When the path forked, Dana veered left, stopping when they reached a water feature. A miniature thatched-roof cottage sat beside a pool filled with water lilies. Their creamy white blooms contrasted sharply with the broad, dark leaves floating on the surface.

A cute little marsh frog was lounging on one of them.

“That’s Omar,” Dana informed her, pointing to the amphibian, who blinked his yellow eyes when he heard his name. “I don’t know the full story, but supposedly he’s cursed.”

“Cursed?” Astra repeated. “As in, he’s not really a frog?”

Dana nodded. “Not an ordinary frog, anyway. He’s been here for years and years, way longer than frogs usually live. And he knows things. Understands things. His name, for one.”

Astra was skeptical until she saw the frog wink at Dana.

“Maybe he’s a student who failed to master his powers,” Astra speculated. “Rhys—my father—said I had to stay here until I mastered mine, but what happens when someone doesn’t? Do they go home in disgrace? Are they exiled to a commune made of failures? How long do students stay at Wildwood, anyway? Who’s been here the longest?”

Dana bit her lip. “Just guessing, I’d say Maurelle. Purebloods have four elements to master, so they’re usually here for a while. You won’t be,” she predicted. “Not the way you picked up torching. It took me a week of practice to light one finger, let alone ten like you did.”

Astra hoped Dana was right. It was only her first day, and she missed her mother and grandmother. A terrible thought crossed her mind. Even after she mastered her powers, would they let her return to her family and stay there, or had she been banished to this plane of existence?

What if the ruling council rejected her father’s promise and refused to let her leave? What if she was never allowed to go home?
