Jennifer Probst is a NY Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of sexy and erotic contemporary romance. She wrote her first book at twelve years old, bound in a folder, read it to her classmates, and hasn’t stopped writing since. She took a short hiatus to get married, have children, buy a house, pursue a master’s in English Literature, and rescue two shelter dogs.

When did you start writing and why?

I’ve been writing since I was twelve years old. I hand-wrote my first young adult romance and brought it to the school so all my friends could read it! I was hooked immediately.

What have you learned about writing since you started?

Most of the time it’s hard. It’s work. I love my career, but many times I’m just slugging words on the page and praying I’m doing it right. It’s being alone in a room for hours on end creating things out of nothing. Pretty bad ass, but hard.

Tell us about your new book or series.

My series is inspired by HGTV called the Billionaire Builders. It’s about three estranged brothers who are forced back together to run the family customized building business. It’s got tons of family drama, secrets, and hot brothers based on The Property Brothers. It was so much fun to write!

What is your idea of a perfect day?

A day off or a day at work? LOL! A perfect day off would be a the beach with my family, just relaxing by the ocean. A perfect day at work would be writing 5K of amazing words under no deadline!

Do you have any hobbies?

I love horseback riding – I go once a week if possible. It gets me out of the house and I love animals.

What is the worst thing about being an author?

Juggling so many things at once. It’s not just about writing. It’s editing, promotion, new writing, social media, answering emails, marketing, etc.

What is your favorite thing about being an author?

The readers. The feeling of completing a book you really love and can’t wait for people to read. Seeing myself in the bookstore. Getting amazing emails from readers. And writing a scene that flows and transports me to another place. I love so many aspects of this business!

How many books do you currently have out on the market and what genres do they fall into?

I am working on my 33rd book right now! Amazing, right? They are majority contemporary sexy or erotic romance, but I have a nonfiction book called Write Naked: A Bestseller’s Secrets to writing romance & navigating the path to success. It just came out from Writers Digest and I’m so excited about it. I’ve also written a short story about a shelter dog, and a children’s book with my niece!

What can we expect from you next?

The last two books in the Billionaire Builders series will be out in May and July – Somehow, Some Way and All or Nothing At All.

Will you pass on some words of wisdom, please, to aspiring authors?

Always believe in yourself and never give up. Write all the time and study craft. Realize rejection and failure is a part of life, but if you keep working, you will reach your dream.
