Bestselling, award winning author of romantic suspense and epic fantasy romance, C.A. loves to dabble in different genres. If it's a good story, she'll write it, no matter where it seems to fit! She's a hopeless romantic and always will be. Risking it all for Happily Ever After is what she lives by!

Welcome C.A. Szarek

Thank you for taking the time to visit with us.

Where do you call home?

Texas, and I love it. I’m originally from Ohio, but I’ve been in Texas since 2002.

Do you have another job other than writing?

I do. I work at a shelter for teenagers. My kids are 10-17, and most are in state custody, but even though they’ve been through a lot, they’re good kids and make me laugh.

What is your favorite place to eat?

Hmmm, depends on kind of food I’m in the mood for, but two come to mind. For Chinese, I love this place by my house called Hunan Wok, and for Mexican (I think these are my two fave kinds of foods. ;) ) this place called Frijoles, and it’s also by my house. Double score!

Favorite foods?

Other than Mexican and Chinese, CHOCOLATE!

Do you have a critique partner?

I belong to a FAB group of writers, called Greater Fort Worth Writers (GFWW) and we are multigenre and we read out loud and critique, and I’m also the Vice President this year!

Attending any conventions/conferences this year?

TONS! My next is RT in Vegas (YAY!), which is April 12-17, then I will be in Katy, TX at Houston Author Re-Bash on April 30  from 10A-3P. ON June 11, I have Boas and Tiaras, a FAB Fresh Fiction events. In August I have East Texas Bookfest, then RomCon in September in Denver. Then in Oct, I have two great events, the Grandbury Paranormal Fest on the 1st, and Buns and Roses Oct 24, in Richardson, Texas. My last for the year (I think) is another AWESOME Fresh Fiction Event, Readers n ‘ritas (As in Margaritas!)

Stay tuned to my website,, on my Appearances page, and also sign up for my newsletter, to keep up with my latest!

What genres do you write and do you go by different Nom de Plumes?

I am currently published in Romantic Suspense, Epic Fantasy Romance, and Historical Fantasy Romance (Scottish Highlander Time Travels)

I also write Paranormal Romance (working on wolf shifters now) and I have a few others, like YA and maybe another or two in the ‘ol noggin.

I write them all under C.A. Szarek. No plans for a penname. It’s my initials and my last name. (Who could make up that piece of difficult pronunciation?)

Tell us your latest news? Current projects?

I’m working on a few things, one mentioned, a wolf shifter book that I started a few years ago and it’s been waiting for its turn. Also working on a romantic suspense that has a DELICIOUS cover I can’t wait to share, and a time travel for a secret group project that won’t be out until 3/2017, but the AWESOME books in that series will start pre-orders in October.

My latest release is FATE’S CALL, a novella that takes place in the world of my epic fantasy series, The King’s Riders, and it’s only .99 for the ebook!

My next release is book 5 of my CROSSING FORCES romantic suspense series, and it releases 9/6/16, and I am SUPER excited about it.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I’ve been writing since I was a tiny kid, but SWORD’S CALL (King’s Riders Book One) is my first finished and published book (There are a few others that will never see the light of day) and it came out in 2013. It came to me in a dream, actually, and it’s not the only story that has demanded to be told that way.  I welcome stories in my dreams, but I wish I had more time to write them all!

Do you listen to music while you write or do you need complete silence?

I do listen to music when I write. I listen to alternative and rock and usually my playlist on my phone, that way the songs are familiar “background” music, and I won’t stop to sing. I need that noise or it’s too quiet, and I can’t think. I can’t put the TV on or I will watch it, so familiar music is it. LOL.

What author would you like to meet and have a cozy lunch with?

J.R. Ward. She’s my fave author, and I have met her once and had a total really dumb idiot fangirl moment (No, I really did…I was star struck) and so I would love to redeem myself and prove to her I’m intelligent.

Name one actor/actress you would love to get naughty with? (If you were free to do so)

HAH! This list is so long. The Rock leads the charge, and I also love Chris O’Donnell and Chris Hemsworth.

What do you like to read/favorite genre?

I LOVE Regency Historical Romances. That and Paranormal Romance are my usual go-to’s, but I’d like to preface that with the fact I read ROMANCE EVERYTHING, but I do it in trends or moods, but no matter what I usually love a Scottish Highlander or Paranormal Romance.  I don’t get to read nearly as much as I’d like, though.
