Thank you Kat for taking the time to visit with us.

What inspires you to write?

I have no idea why I was chosen to be a writer.   It never crossed my mind.  Once I started I just could not stop.  I felt I had found my calling.  I'm inspired by the stories that come into my head.  I'm inspired by the readers who enjoy my efforts so much.  Makes all the hard work worthwhile

Tell us about your writing process.

Being a workaholic, I write every day unless I'm traveling.  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I go into town to go to the gym.  I'm back by noon, usually do some book promo, then write or go over what I wrote the day before.  The other four days a week are full writing days, with a little promo before I settle down and get to work

Do you listen to or talk to your characters?

I don't talk to them, but they seem to talk to me.  I wrote something a couple of days ago (just starting a new book so not used to the characters yet).  It felt completely off to me.  I was freaking out.  I got an idea what to do, went back and wrote a different opening and now things are falling into place.

Have you been to Alaska?

I've made two month-long trips to Alaska.  Driving trips, each more than five thousand miles long, staying in the back of a tiny pickup camper.  It's not for the faint of heart.  I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Do you have a favorite character in this Against Series?

I really like Rafe Brodie.  But then I liked both his brothers, Dylan and Nick.  These are three of my favorite stories, probably because I love Alaska so much.

Tell us about the Brodies and your latest release Against the Tide.

In Against the Tide, Rafe Brodie is the captain of a charter fishing boat fleet in tiny Valdez, Alaska.  It's a majestic but harsh and remote place to live.  Fascinated by the new owner of the Pelican Café, Olivia Chandler, Rafe begins to wonder why such a beautiful young woman would want to hide herself away in such a place.

Rafe is determined to solve the mystery, but when his first mate, young Scotty Ferris, is murdered, Rafe has a far more important mystery to solve.

Since Scott was Liv's friend, too, she is equally determined to find his killer.  As the clues unfold, Rafe and Liv are drawn into a web of secrets and lies and that lead both of them into danger.  It's a high-action adventure with lots of romance and passion.  I'm really hoping readers will enjoy it.
